Matthew Wade, Clinical Psychologist
Matthew is a clinical psychologist working with clients from age 12 up, with a range of issues. He is after practical change and takes a compassionate approach using cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based approaches including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, schema therapy, and eye-movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR).
Previously Matthew has worked with complex issues in acute mental health settings, as well as correctional facilities. He has often liaised with other mental health professionals such as psychiatrists to provide cognitive behavioural interventions for major mental illness, including schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. His work in forensic settings has included assisting offenders to bring about lasting behavioural change.
Matthew has undertaken research looking at the treatment of anxiety, phobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma, and PTSD. He has worked with people with depression, grief, persistent pain, addictions, and personality disorders. Matthew completed a Masters of Clinical Psychology and is endorsed as a Clinical Psychologist.
